Exploring the Catalan culture…
This school year we, the students of 3HMB, decided to spend some days in wonderful Barcelona together with our class teacher Ms Weber and Ms Sutrich.
During our stay we visited plenty of sights like, for example, Park Güell and the church „Sagrada Familia“, the landmark of Barcelona, which was designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi. Being one of the most important representatives of the Spanish Modernisme, Gaudi integrated very creative and decorative ornaments into his works of art.
We also paid a visit to “Museo Picasso”, where we had the opportunity to marvel at some paintings by the teenager Pablo Ruiz Picasso, and we went to see “Fundacio Juan Miro”. The latter is located on Barcelona’s local mountain “Montjuic”, from which we got directly to the beach “La Barceloneta” by cableway. As we had a marvellous view over the city and the harbour this ride was really fantastic!
Strolling through the big market “La Boqueria” definitely was a culinary highlight. We furthermore enjoyed a walk through the old town, and made a bicycle tour along the beach.
On the last day of our trip we had dinner in a typical restaurant trying tapas, paella and some more traditional Catalan dishes.
All in all we spent a great time in an exciting city, and - thanks to the warm temperatures - also got the chance to go for a swim in the sea.
